Safer Space Policy

Euer sicherer Ort
auf der POLARIS

Your Safer Space

POLARIS aims to be a safe and respectful space for everyone. Especially because our community is so diverse, we want to offer you a safer space. For this reason, we do not tolerate discriminatory, abusive or harassing behaviour. The protection and well-being of everyone present is our top priority.

In addition to our already established safe words for discreetly asking for help, we also strive to check that all exhibitors‘ products comply with the rules and to take immediate action in the event of any violations.

If you, as a visitor or exhibitor, notice any violations of the rules, please come and see us at our information desk in Hall B1 at any time!

Safe Words: ‘Mashed Potatoes’ / ‘Adventure Land’

It can be difficult to find the right words to ask for help, especially around strangers. That’s why we’ve adopted the principle of familiar codes such as ‘Is Luisa here?’ and adapted them for our community so that you can discreetly ask for help in any situation.

You can use these questions/terms at any time to contact our security staff, employees or volunteers to get out of the situation quickly and easily.
Have you noticed something strange? Do you feel uncomfortable, harassed or bullied? Is the crowd getting too much for you? Have you been attacked (verbally or physically)?

Our safe words from this and previous years:
‘Is there mashed potatoes here?’
‘Where is Adventure Land?’

Consequences of violations

We reserve the right to take appropriate action as organisers in the event of violations of our Safer Space Policy. Depending on the situation, these measures may range from a warning to exclusion from current and future events – both on-site and digital. If necessary, we will call in security personnel or authorities and provide support to those affected.

Our goal is to create a safe and respectful environment for everyone. To achieve this, we ask you to adhere to these rules and work with us to create an appreciative and inclusive space.
